“Concorso d’Eleganza di Kyoto 2016” si è svolta dal 3 al 6 dicembre 2016 nel Castello Nijo uno dei siti del patrimonio mondiale Kyoto, in Giappone.
Questa è stata la prima edizione del Concorso di Kyoto, gli organizzatori si sono rifatti ai due concorsi dedicati alle Auto d’Epoca e Vintage più noti e storici come il Concorso di Eleganza di Villa d’Este a Cernobbio sul Lago di Como e Pebble Beach in California.
Kyoto è una città storica del Giappone molto elegante con siti archeologici famosi in tutto il mondo, ha una storia molto lunga e ricca e rappresenta lo stile delle citta orientali, considerata una vera perla d’oriente.
La città di Kyoto è un antica capitale del Giappone, pieno di vecchi e venerati templi e sede di artigiani che praticano mestieri tradizionali con le competenze e le abilità artistiche affinate nel corso di migliaia di anni di pratica. Nello stesso modo in cui gli europei e gli americani apprezzano vetture classiche e vintage, i giapponesi sono giunti a mettere un alto valore artigianale e la bellezza meccanica dell’automobile.
Anche se provenienti da diversi background culturali il desiderio di promuovere la propria cultura e il rispetto per la storia sono comuni a tutti.
Il Castello Nijo a Kyoto esiste da oltre 400 anni ed è stato inserito negli anni 20 come sito di importanza storica nel patrimonio mondiale.
Ventidue le auto presenti a Kyoto, dei veri capolavori, oltre all’esposizione statica all’interno del castello, hanno anche sfilato lungo il sentiero di ghiaia all’interno dello steso, abbinando l’eleganza del posto con quella delle vetture provenienti da tutto il Mondo.
Le auto premiate sono state sette, premiate da un’attenta giuria formata da specialisti del settore oltre ad una vettura scelta dal pubblico.
La regina del concorso è una veterana dei concorsi, vettura pluripremiata con un palmares da invidia, in quanto è un vero capolavoro dell’ingegneria e stile tutto italiano, come il suo proprietario, il quale sta portando lo stile italiano in giro per il Mondo.
L’Architetto e collezionista Corrado Lopresto, una persona che non ha bisogno di presentazione in quanto ormai lo conoscono tutti gli appassionati, grazie al suo gusto esclusivo e raffinato nella ricerca e restauro di auto uniche e molto rare.
L’Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 cc SS carrozzata da Bertone del 1942 ha un’eleganza estrema, con una linea sinuosa e ben bilanciata, un capolavoro uscito dalla matita del grande designer, Conte Mario Revelli di Beaumont.
Best of show
Tra le sette auto premiate, ben cinque sono auto Italiane, come la Lancia Lamba Tipo 221 spider Ca.Sa.Ro del 1928 che appartiene al collezionista e noto personaggio televisivo giapponese Masaaki Sakai, che oltre alla Lamba ha altre vetture Italiane. La Lancia Lamba ha vinto nella categoria Miglior Auto Scoperta anteguerra. La Lamba ha vinto la Mille Miglia nel 2014.

Una Maserati A6G 2000 Vignale del 1951 invece si è aggiudicata il premio, quale migliore auto chiusa del dopoguerra.
Di proprietà di un altro collezionista giapponese Shigeru Hoshino, auto premiata anche a Pebble Beach come migliore Gran Turismo del dopoguerra con il Winner Show, l’auto disegnata dalla matita del designer Giovanni Michelotti.

Un’altra Maserati si è aggiudicata il premio di Migliore Italiana, la 3500 GT del 1962 di proprietà del collezionista ed artista giapponese Hidetomo Kimura.
Questa Maserati è di color champagne oro voluta appositamente dal marito della nota attrice americana Elizabeth Taylor, che l’ha omaggiata alla consorte.
The best Italian car
La Bizzarrini Iso Grifo A3C Corsa del 1966 è stata selezionata dalla giuria popolare, auto sviluppata dall’Ing. Giotto Bizzarrini per partecipare ad una gara in Florida, realizzata in soli due esemplari.
L’Ing. Bizzarrini tra le varie auto, ha anche preso parte al progetto della Ferrari 250 GTO e della Lamborghini Miura, due auto veramente esclusive.
Peoples choice
La Rolls Royce 25 Sport Saloon del 1937 appartenuta all’Ex Primo Ministro giapponese Yoshida Shigeru si è aggiudicata il premio di Best pre War closed, la migliore auto chiusa prima della Guerra, l’auto appartiene a Kiyoharu Wakui del Museo Wakui.
Particolarità di quest’auto è il numero di targa, in quanto è l’unica targa con numero singolo di tutto il Giappone !!!

La Delahaye Tipe 178 Chapron del 1053, si è aggiudicato il premi come miglior auto scoperta del dopoguerra, auto Di proprietà di Margie & Robert E. Petersen Collection.
Il bel lavoro sul corpo e il design elegante, è stato realizzato a mano dalla famosa azienda Chapron. Questa vettura ha ricevuto la distinzione di Best of Show nel 2000 al Concorso d’Eleganza di Meadowbrook.

“Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto 2016” took place in Nijo Castle one of the World Heritage Sites (Kyoto, Japan) from December 3rd through 6th, 2016.
It was the very first year for Kyoto, Japan, to hold a concours event of classic and vintage cars such as “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este” in Lake Como in Northern Italy and “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance” at world’s well known golf course in the Pebble Beach Resort in the United States.
The reason why we held the event in Kyoto is the city is the most elegant venue not only in Japan but also in Asia, and it is also an ancient city which has its own traditional history likely in Europe and USA.
The city of Kyoto is an ancient capital of Japan, full of old and venerated temples and home to craftsmen who practice traditional crafts with the skills and artistry honed over thousands of years of practice. In the same way that Europeans and Americans value classic and vintage cars Japanese have come to place a high value on the craftsmanship and mechanical beauty of the automobile. Even though coming from different cultural backgrounds the desire to foster one’s own culture and a respect for history are common to all.
Nijo Castle in Kyoto has existed for over 400 years and has been a registered World Heritage site for the past 20 years of its history. We feel that the history and intrinsic beauty of this location best suites the appreciation of class automobiles and will provide an atmosphere of splendor and elegance for all who attend. This event is a festival to share the history, culture, and craftsmanship of the automobile into the next generation, from the city of Kyoto to the world.
On December 6th the last day of Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto 2016, all exhibited vehicles paraded gracefully through Nijo Castle gravel path along the roadside people lining up, then were presented and introduced on the red carpet stage one by one. Ultimately, 7 award winning vehicles were presented and introduced. The 22 exhibited vehicles were participated not only from Japan but also from overseas including 1953 Delahaye Tipe 178 Chapron from Petersen Automotive Museum, USA, 1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Bertone the Best of Show “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este” in 2011, and they were absolutely splendid car line up for our event aiming for world class concours. Awards were decided after careful consideration by the judges from the 2 major Concours d’Elegance and international classic cars journalists.

The masterpiece of show model car by Carrozzeria Bertone. Styling was done by the famed Mario Revelli de Beaumont. Restored in original condition by current owner. Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2011 winner.

Owned by Masaaki Sakai
First presented in the 1922 Paris Motor Salon, motor show, and was developed by Vincenzo Lancia himself. 2014 Mille Miglia winner.

Beloved car of Yoshida Shigeru, former prime minister of Japan. A unique feature of this car is its license plate which is specially issued and is the only single number plate in Japan and reads (3 せ 4046).

The beautiful body work and elegant design was hand crafted by the famous Chapron company. This car has been awarded the distinction of best of show during the 2000 Meadowbrook Hall Concours d’Elegance in America.

「1951 Maserati A6G 2000 Vignale」

The first entry by Maserati in their Gan Turismo (road car model) line. The body was designed by Giovanni Michelotti. The Pebble Beach Concours de’Elengance the coveted post-war gran turismo class best in show award winner.

「1962 Maserati 3500 GT」
Owned by Hidetomo Kimura
The model on display previously belonged to the famous American singer, Eddie Fisher’s wife and world actress in her own right, Elizabeth Taylor. It was given to her as a present and specially colored for her in Champagne Gold.

1966 Bizzarrini Iso A3C Corsa
This car was developed by the same famous engineer, Giotto Bizzarrini, who designed the Ferrari 250 GTO and the Lamborghini Miura. This car was specifically designed to take part in a race in Florida, USA and was one of only two cars produced for this purpose.
Moreover, we organized “Exhibitor’s Exclusive Privilege” program for selected exhibitors from overseas. Kyoto City itself involved as one of the organizers for this special event and fully supporting the event, Mr. Daisaku Kadokawa, the Mayor of Kyoto City, and Mr. Hidetomo Kimura as a Visit Kyoto Ambassador. The purpose of this program was providing valuable “Kyoto’s cultural experience” to each of the international exhibitors. The program including a banquet hosted by the mayor of Kyoto City, performance by top class Maiko and Geiko(meaning Geisha in Kyoto and is female entertainer trained in singing, dancing, the art of conversation and other arts in order to serve guests as hired companions), tea lecture and ceremony, kimono/hakama experience, visiting famous temples and shrines were scheduled each day of their stay and they all enjoyed and had a memorable time.
“The first year of this event is like a prototype. As considering the base of this first year, improving and raising the level of the event, Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto will take place again in Spring, the beautiful cherry blossom season, 2018.” Mr. Hidetomo Kimura, the General Producer of Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto.
12月3日（土）から開始される特別展示『Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto 2016』のハイライトとなるのが、12月6日（火）に開催されるセレモニー『Concorso d’Eleganza Kyoto Award 2016』（コンコルソ・デレガンツァ 京都 アワード2016）です。
12月3日（土）から特別展示されているビンテージカーたちは、世界に名がとどろく最高峰の名車ばかり。一同に会すること自体が奇跡ともいえるラインナップです。
その名車たちを芸術品・工芸品として審査し、アワードを決定します。一流コンクールと同様の審査員がその価値を厳正に審査。5台の車が選出され、その中から最優秀賞（Best of Show）を授与いたします。
アワード発表セレモニーでは、華麗なる名車たちが二条城内の花道を優雅に駆け抜ける雄姿を目前で見ることができます。どの名車が栄冠を手にするのか? その瞬間にぜひお立ち会いください。
